Answers to your questions about Smartop
Every Smartop is custom-built and can accommodate the smallest square or rectangular hot tub to the largest swim spa. Smartop comes with lifter options that either lock the cover upright to act as a wind and privacy screen or let the cover drop into a low-profile position that allows panoramic viewing during your hot tub experience.
The rigid polymer deck surface is UV resistant and withstands the harshest weather conditions with no maintenance or treatment required. The impermeable polymer and exclusive patent-pending interlocking panel design prevents moisture absorption and retention allowing Smartop to maintain its heat retention effectiveness and eventual disintegration of the insulating foam. The materials used to construct Smartop are superior to vinyl covers which require replacement in as little as three (3) years. Smartop is designed to outlast the life of the spa.
Smartop comes with an integrated hydraulic cover lifter which allows for easy, effortless opening. Unlike traditional vinyl covers that absorb water over time, Smartop’s zero-water absorption design allows it to maintain a consistent weight throughout the life of the cover.
R-value is often confused with how well the cover traps heat in the hot tub. Smartop has performed better or equal to traditional vinyl covers in its ability to insulate. As foam absorbs water, heat is able to escape through the water-soaked foam. One of Smartop’s superior features over vinyl covers is its ability to maintain optimal heat retention throughout its life cycle due to its zero-water retention design. Every Smartop also includes a Thermal Super Seal Gasket on the underside of the cover which provides an additional method of heat-retention.
If you can use a tape measure, crescent wrench and screw gun (drill or Phillip’s head screwdriver will work as well), you can install Smartop. We’ve created a video that shows each step of the installation process. We also provide VERY detailed, instructions with every Smartop that is shipped.
The Smartop requires only six inches of clearance when in the upright position. A minimum of seven inches is required on each side to allow for the side handles. The Smartop Duo requires a minimum of fifteen inches of clearance when in the open position and seven inches on each side.
Due to Smartop’s exclusive patented design and use of proven water-resistant foam from Owens Corning, Smartop will not develop mildew/mold which is the source of the foul odor that develops over time with traditional vinyl covers.
Smartop’s structural integrity is derived from its exclusive patent-pending ribbed panel design and interior aluminum support channels. Smartop has been tested to support up to 800 lbs – easily supporting snow, ice, pets and much more.
Can Smartop be repaired if damaged or is a replacement cover required? top
